In celebration of Earth Day 2012 (and to prepare a bit for wrapping Mother's Day presents) we tackled an eco-friendly project recently found on pinterest: vintage fabric bows. We love this inexpensive way to decorate gifts with unique style!
When we first stumbled across this unique gift wrap idea by blogger Carrie Stroud, it was instantly committed to memory as a diy to try. After all, everyone has fabric lying about the house that could be used for this extremely easy, fun and impressive project! The 5 simple steps for making these fabric gift wrap bows follow the photo below...

1. Using cardboard, cut out 4 rectangles as patterns. Each pattern piece should measure 3/4 inch wide. Cut lengths of 10 inches, 9 inches, 8 inches and 6 inches. 2. Using your cardboard patterns, trace (on the backside your fabric) the following: three 10-inch rectangles, three 9-inch rectangles, two 8-inch rectangles and one 6 inch rectangle. Cut each rectangle out with pinking shears. 3. Make each strip into a loop and staple each loop at the center. 4. In order of largest to smallest, stack your loops. You can put a small dab of blue in between each loop, or sew them all together with 2 loops of your needle in the center when you're finished stacking. Either method works fine! 5. Attach a vintage button to the center of your bow, or leave it plain. Bows can be attached to presents with either tape or hot glue.
