Inspiration for "flirty floral"style found: At the New York Botanical Garden's annual Orchid Show!

Happy friday! Since our theme all week has been "flirty floral" (which is all the rage on the runway), I thought I'd close out the week by sharing my visit to the New York Botanical Garden last Sunday. With kids in tow (and my Mom & Dad) we went to check out the Orchid Show for the first time. It was utterly spectacular - even the kids were spell bound. Patrick Blanc, a French landscape designer known for his vertical walls, created spectacular vertical walls filled with color, texture, and orchids of every shape, size and color. Even my 10 year old (boy) was inspired. Here's a few pics which really don't do them justice! And if I do say so, my Darlingtonia Mocs just blended perfectly! Cheers.

How I would wear it... Paulina Carcach cinch belt.

I love this Paulina Carcach handmade belt but even I wasn't sure how to style it...

So I slept on it for a few nights and last night inspiration hit! Spring and summer were all about stripes so I grabed one of the striped tops I bought at J.Crew last year and layered it with this great simple long open sweater I've had for ages. Then I cynched it together with the Paulina Carcach belt that I love so much. Topped off with a new Nature Girl Design pendant that we will be introducing next week and VOILA... a chic, easy to wear ensemble that goes great with jeans and high boots as a transition into spring! A modern kitchen with sunny colors!

A bright, bright sunny kitchen with modern flare - just my style.

I bring to you my dream kitchen! When I was growing up we had a bright yellow kitchen that I will never forget. That sunny color was a bandage to long dreary days in the Canadian winter. Think about it - the kitchen is where you start and finish the day, gather with friends and family, and sustain yourself. It should be big, bright, bold and fun... in my opinion. Of course my favorite color is orange so my dream kitchen features that most citrus of hues. I also love to mix materials... wood, color, brushed metal etc... See more colorful kitchens here in your favorite shade. Enjoy this sampling of my dream kitchen and the colorful, modern accessories that go with it... the ring is optional of course!
