The focus of ceramicist Tania Julian’s work? Hand-thrown porcelain vases that draw inspiration from 20th century modernism. Feminine, small-necked bottle shapes emerge from the ancient fertility archetype: the egg. The medium's smooth surface challenge this beehiveshop designer her to explore the subtle duality of glazed shiny areas and the matte surface of the porcelain in several designs. Born in Mainz, Germany, Tania Julian has resided in Atlanta since 1996, where she practiced Interior Design until 2004. She graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta with a degree in Interior design in 2000 and began her career at the mod firm idea.span where she refined her design principles and explored the psychology of space.
